France is involved with many industrial and technological areas, some of these include:
The Concorde was the worlds fastest aeroplane and is the result of the French company Aerospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation coming together to create a plane. The Concorde was first flown in 1969 and was later introduced in 1976 and flew commercial flights for another twenty seven years. The Concorde only had twenty models produced and were very popular at the time as they were turbojet- powered planes that could travel at supersonic speeds, this means it could travel at speeds faster than the speed of sound. One of the Concorde's crashed in the year 2000 thus leading to its retirement as people said they were no longer safe to fly. However the technology used for the Concorde later led to creating better planes such as the blackbird.Interesting fact: France was the third country to launch a satellite into space.
I'm sure you've heard of Marie Curie, she was a French scientist who worked with her husband researching radioactivity. Eventually this research was expanded on by other scientists to develop the atomic bomb. We all now know that the atomic bomb was a huge mistake, but through its development scientists learnt about many other things we could do with Nuclear Technology. France is a major world leader in Nuclear Technology today, and has been the target of many protests over it's atom bomb testing. The French have developed a very useful method of disposing of nuclear waste. This has been sold to many other countries.
