General Facts

France is located in Western Europe between Spain and Belgium and covers 547,030 Square Kilometres of land. It's the third most populated country in Europe having a population of approximately 65,821,885 people. The official language of France is of course French, so most of the people there will be speaking it. French is also the official language of 30 other countries and is spoken by approximately 270 million people worldwide.

Paris is the capital city of France and is considered the cultural heart of the Western World. Paris is known to be one of the most beautiful and romantic cities of all time, being referred to as the city of love and lights. It is famous for it's architecture such as the Eiffel Tower and the Museum of Lourve. Some other famous cities in France also include Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Nice, Nantes, Strasbourg and Bordeaux. You should be able to see some of these places if you look at the map to the right.

Like any country France celebrates multiple holidays. The Main ones they celebrate are Bastille Day, Beaujolais Nouveau, Christmas, Halloween, Mardi Gras, Mentons Lemon Festival, New Years, Nice Carnival, Poisson D'avril and Valentines day. As you can see some of these holidays we celebrate, others are traditional to France such as Bastille day which is National French day.

All countries are rich in some resources that their country produces, we call these a countries natural resources. Frances natural resources include: coal, iron ore, bauxite, zinc, uranium, antimony, arsenic, potash, feldspar, fluorspar, gypsum, timber and fish. France has the second largest economy in Europe as lots of these materials are needed by other countries thus exported. The main export from France is machinery but wines, liquors, perfumes, cosmetics, automobiles and medicines are also largely exported. The currency used in France is the same as the rest of Europe, the Euro.

The French flag
